Getting started together
It takes only a few minutes to set up and enable better care for your loved one. To begin, you and your loved one will need an Uber account.
Care recipient adds a payment method to their Uber account
Care recipient adds a payment method to their Uber account. Once you and your loved one have each created an account, they must add a payment method by navigating in the Uber app to Account > Wallet > Add payment method > Credit or Debit Card.
Care recipient designates a caregiver
Your loved one will navigate back to their Wallet and select the payment method they wish to delegate. Payment methods that can be delegated will say “Shareable with a contact.” Your loved one must select the payment method, choose Share payment method, and then select your name from their contact list or enter your information. You’ll receive a notification from the Uber app letting you know that you’ve been added as a caregiver.
Request a ride
Now you can request rides, using the assigned payment method. Select the time and vehicle type that’s best for your care recipient.
Track progress together
After a ride request is placed, you and your loved one will get the trip details, including car and driver information. You’ll both also be able to track the real-time progress of the ride, revise the dropoff point mid-trip if needed, and participate in a 3-way chat with the driver.
